שפי, שָׁפָהII (v. שָׁפַע) 1) to incline, v. שִׁיפּוּי II. 2) to tilt, pour out slowly (so as to leave the sediment behind). Midr. Till. to Ps. 18:12 כדקים … שוֹפִין אלו באלו ed. Bub. (oth. ed. שופכין) as the small bowels of an animal that pour their contents from one to the other. Esth. R. to II, 3; a. e.Esp. to sell wine. B. Mets.60a השוֹפֶה יין לחמרים Ms. H. (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 10; ed. לחבירו; Ar. לשמרים, corr. acc.) if one sells wine to ass-drivers (caravan at an inn); Tosef. ib. III, 27 היה שוֹפֵאוכ׳ ed. Zuck. (Var. שופה); a. e. Pi. שִׁיפָּה to make slanting, whittle to a point.Part. pass. מְשוּפֶּה; f. מְשוּפָּה pl. מְשוּפִּים, מְשוּפִּין, מְשוּפּוֹת. Keth.5b מש׳ כיתדות (the fingers) pointed like pegs.
